Haslemere Masters Squad is made up of a fantastic group of people, from competitors and ex-competitors to swimmers who want to keep fit and who want to learn to swim better.  Our growing squad ranges in age from 24 to 80 years of age.  Whatever your level of fitness or commitment you will be able to train and get fit in a friendly a supportive atmosphere with structured training sets for those who want to get fit and sets for those who want to compete in Masters swimming competitions.

Our Masters resident coaches set the training schedules which are adapted to suit our swimming abilities and fitness. Our Sunday night club session is structured across all eight lanes based on our abilities and what we want to achieve – ranging from stamina to stroke techniques. In addition to our normal sets, Masters coach, Alison Baranowski holds stroke technique clinics as required so members can brush up or learn new skills.

What a TEAM :-)

What a TEAM 🙂

Our competition team did a fantastic job at the Surrey Masters Championships on 28th June. Winning a haul of over 30 medals between them, and 6 relay medals. New members Phil Cranwell, Matt Swarsbrick and Wendy Primmer made a major contribution on their first time swimming in Haslemere colours. As the established members, Hanna Hurst, Lucy Petrie, David Harding, David Cleasby and Carl Mullender maintained previous years winning standards. The combined efforts of our small team gave us overall 4th place in the relay events and 5th place overall in Surrey 🙂 Amazing achievement.

Increasing interest in triathlons has encouraged more people to join our squad, and we are developing a specific training program to help triathletes develop the fitness, technique and pacing abilities that long distance open water swimming demands.

We meet three times per week for hourly sessions, Sundays at 7 to 8pm, Tuesdays at 8.30 to 9.30 pm and Thursdays 8.00 to 9.00 pm. Early morning sessions, 6.00 – 7.30 am, are available on Monday and Fridays. The training sessions are quite concentrated but we do try to be sociable when resting between swimming sets !

We try to enter teams for Masters galas in the South East region, and organise an ‘evening meal out’ in the Winter where everyone can get to know each other a little better.
